Closing event
Athens Biennale 7: ECLIPSE and the AB7 X BIOS project comes to an end and we are inviting everyone to join us this Saturday and Sunday, 27th & 28th of November, at a unique closing event that’s gonna take place in both the Santaroza Pop up Bar space – Justice Square – and the Akalyptos space at Schliemann – Mela Hall in Panepistimiou str. 46.
2 stages filled with amazing music and lots of talented artists. Free entrance!
During Saturday at Santaroza, Adedeji, born and raised in the vibrant city of Lagos, West Africa, and his band The Afrosessionists are inviting us in a celebration of Black music, an infusion of Traditional African music with a progressive attitude and modern sound of jazz, funk and soul music that is rhythmically and technically sophisticated, harmonically rich, and melodically compelling. Alongside Afrosessionists, JDM: a three girl dance group will shake us to the beat of the African Dance while some Special Guest MCs and Singers will take over the mic and share their masterful vocals with us. On top, local DJ Dennis Green will mix his fave Hip Hop and 2000 R&B tunes from inside our retro camping van.
At Akalyptos, in Panepistimiou 46, you can hear Nonika, a DJ, a Producer and an active member of the local Ballroom Community whose House oriented sets are filled with Tech elements and Afro Grooves. Local Vogue Dancers and members of the Athenian Ballroom Community will be accompanying Nonika as well as the illustrious local talents ΑΣΤΥΤΕΚΚ, Lower Parts initiator, and KAWRS, the groovy duo compiled by Neda and Simos Ares. Rrra-ka-ta-ti-ti-ta-ta!
During Sunday, Orila Records DJs take over the space of Akalyptos from 18:00.
Orila Records primary focus lies on the fields of events production and releasing cultural works since 2008. Their aim is to introduce and familiarise existing and new audiences with the wide spectrum of experimental arts through in-situ performances, interdisciplinary artworks and impromptu events that create a meaningful discussion with the wider public.
Yannis Iasonidis is the head honcho of the Athenian, DIY label Orila. His DJ sets feature a penchant for found recordings, non-music jams and painfully slow BPMs, while previous appearances have seen him play for Salon des Amateurs, Meakusma Festival as well as maintaining an annual Mount Olympus residency.
Chris OD is a multi-genre music storyteller, who creates personalised audio narrations by drawing his material through a wide range of audio material which he relentlessly consumes.
Devika joins the line up as well. Devika is one of a kind DJ with techno as her focal point. Her sets draw from a wide array of elements, from electro to drone music while her work includes sound design and music selection for theatre plays and performances.
Last but not least, the beloved K.atou who prefers that time in the party where the edges are worn out and a more meaningful relationship can be struck up with the crowd.
